Emerson Boozer Bio
Emerson Boozer was born in Augusta, Georgia on the fourth of July in 1943 and attended Laney high school. He was one of four children and felt fortunate to come from a loving home. His family raised vegetables and Emerson would walk with his father and brother to catch fish in the Savannah River. He was a sharpshooter with marbles before he became a football star. From 1962 to 1966 he played college football at the University of Maryland – Eastern Shore where he wore the infamous number 44. He was twice an All American choice and carried the ball for 2537 yards and 22 touchdowns. In 1982 he was inducted into their Hall of Fame. As a pro he was a super back for the New York Jets for 10 years from 1966 to 1975. He was a two time Pro Bowler in 1966 and 1968. He ranked among the leagues top ten in Rushes in 1967 and 1971 in rushing yards in 1966 and 1969 and rushing touchdowns in 1966, 1967 (he led the league) 1968, 1969 and 1972. In combination of rushing and receiving touchdowns he was #1 in 1967 and 1972. He ranks 44 among the leagues all time top 50 in rushing touchdowns. Emerson was an important cog in the 1969 New York Jets championship season.
