On Saturday, January 27, 2007, Lerner Sports Marketing arranged for the appearances of seven current NY Mets players and two former 1986 NY Mets World Championship players. The players who attended this event were Jose Reyes, David Wright, Paul LoDuca, Orlando 'El Duque' Hernandez, Aaron Heilman, John Maine, Ben Johnson, Howard Johnson & Lee Mazzilli. They spent two hours teaching baseball fundamentals to over 200 youngsters, many of whom called this "the greatest day of their life." This was a fundraising event for the benefit of the White Plains Hospital Center. The hostpital received needed funds to use towards the purchase of life saving equiptment for their pediatric unit.
