Mike Torrez played 18 seasons in the major leagues for the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, St. Louis Cardinals, Montreal Expos, Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics and New York Mets. He had a career record of 185 wins and 160 losses. His lifetime earned run average was 3.96 and he had 1404 strikeouts and 1371 bases on balls in his career. He was a member of the 1977 New York Yankees championship team. In 1978, while pitching for the Red Sox, he threw a historic pitch to Bucky Dent that was hit for a home run and won the American League East division for the New York Yankees.
