Gaylord Perry played 22 seasons in the major leagues for the San Francisco Giants, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, New York Yankees, Atlanta Braves, Seattle Mariners and Kansas City Royals. He had a career record of 314 wins and 265 losses. His lifetime earned run average was 3.11 and he had 3536 strikeouts and 1379 bases on balls in his career. He was a 5-time all-star, 3 times for the N.L. and twice for the A.L. He won the A.L. Cy Young Award in 1972 and the N.L. Cy Young Award in 1978. He led the league in wins in 1970 (23), 1972 (24) and 1978 (21). He led the NL in shutouts in 1973 (5). Perry was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991.
