Phil Linz played 7 years in the major leagues for the New York Yankees, New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies. He had a lifetime batting average of .235 with 11 home runs, 64 doubles, 4 triples, 185 runs scored and 96 RBI’s in his major league career. He played in two World Series with the New York Yankees in 1963 and 1964. In 1964 Phil started playing Mary had a Little Lamb on his harmonica on a team bus after the team lost 4 straight games to the Chicago White Sox. Manager Yogi Berra became enraged at Linz and a ruckus developed on the bus. This incident united the team and they went on a big winning streak and went on to win the American League pennant.
