Ed Kranepool played 18 seasons in the major leagues for the New York Mets. He had a lifetime batting average of 261 with 118 home runs, 225 doubles, 25 triples, 536 runs scored and 614 RBI’s in his major league career. In 1971 he hit 280 with career highs in RBI’s Home runs and runs scored and led the league with a 998 fielding average. He was an outstanding pinch hitter in his later years batting a major league record of 486 with 17 hits as a pinch hitter in 1974. He was a key member of the 1969 World Series championship teams. He appeared in the 1965 all star game. He signed with the Mets after graduating from James Monroe High School in the Bronx and played in each of the Mets first 18 seasons. He retired as the all-time club leader in 8 offensive categories. He has been a very successful businessman after completing his baseball career.
