Tommy John played Major League Baseball for 26 seasons. He had a lifetime record of 288 wins and 231 losses with a 3.34 ERA. He had a fantastic sinkerball with great control. He was named to the all-star team in 1968, 1978, 1979 and 1982 and had a 6 and 3 won loss record in post-season play. In the middle of his career Tommy made baseball history when he had a tendon transplanted from his right forearm to his left elbow to remedy a tear that threatened to end his baseball career. This ground breaking surgery is now called “Tommy John Surgery”. Tommy managed the Staten Island Yankees in 2004.
