Richard “Goose” Gossage played 22 seasons in the major leagues for the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners. He had a career record of 124 wins, 107 losses and 310 saves. His lifetime earned run average was 3.01 and he had 1502 strikeouts and 732 bases on balls in his career. He was a member of the 1978 New York Yankees World Series championship team. He was an A.L. all-star 6 times and an N.L. all-star 3 times between the years 1975 and 1985. In 1978 he won the American League Rolaids Relief award. He led the A.L. in saves in 1975 (26), 1976 (27) and 1980 (33).
