Whitey Ford played 16 seasons in the major leagues, all for the New York Yankees. He had a career record of 236 wins and 106 losses. His lifetime earned run average was 2.75 and he had 1956 strikeouts and 1086 bases on balls in his career. He was a member of 6 New York Yankee World Series championship teams (1950, 1953, 1956, 1958, 1961 and 1962). He was an 8-time A.L. all-star between 1954 and 1964. In 1961 he won the A.L. Cy Young award, the A.L. Babe Ruth Award and World Series MVP. He led the American League in ERA in 1956 (2.47) and 1958 (2.01). He also led the league in wins in 1955 (18), 1961 (25) and 1963 (24). He led the league in shutouts in 1958 (7) and in 1960 (4). He was admitted to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
