Alvin Dark played 14 years in the major leagues for the New York Giants, Boston Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Braves. He had a lifetime batting average of .289 with 126 home runs, 358 doubles, 72 triples, 1064 runs scored and 756 RBI’s in his major league career. He was a member of the 1954 New York Giants World Series champions. He was the National League Rookie of the Year in 1948 and was a 3-time all-star (1951, 1952, 1954). He led the National League in doubles in 1951 and was a recipient of the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award in 1955. As a manager, Alvin managed for 13 years in the Major Leagues with the San Francisco Giants, Kansas City Athletics, Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics and the San Diego Padres. He had a career record of 994 wins and 954 losses. In 1974, he was the manager of the World Series champion Oakland Athletics.
