Ralph Branca played 12 seasons in the major leagues for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees. He had a career record of 88 wins and 68 losses in 322 appearances. His earned run average was 3.79 and he had 829 strike outs and 663 bases on balls . He was a three-time all-star from 1947-1949, and pitched in two world series in that span against the Yankees. He is well-known for the "shot heard round the world" that Bobby Thomson hit off him in 1951 to give the New York Giants the NL pennant.
